The Matthew Shephard Story on 20/20 Tonight

There seem to be many feelings around the Matthew Shephard story that is airing on ABC's 20/20 tonight (10pm EST). The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation has an interesting viewer guide on their website, 10 QUESTIONS ABOUT ABC’S 20/20 SHOW ON MATTHEW SHEPARD, which is worth a look.

I have met Judy Shepard, Matthew's mother, on a number of different ocassions, including a recent event at Sirius OutQ radio in New York. Don't let the soft spoken manner fool you, the lesbian and gay community has no stronger ally than Judy Shepard. At a time when many parents retreat to their private worlds, Judy Shepard has chosen a different path. Since Matthew's death, Judy has traveled the nation educating people about hate crimes and homophobia.

Now, I don't know what exactly is in the piece tonight, so I will be watching with an open mind. I will be sure to post any updates that come out after the piece airs.
