TAKE ACTION: Is he or isn't he? What the Washington Blade has NOT told you.

RNC chairman designate Ken Mehlman (left)

BlogACTIVE.com has confirmed with three sources at the Washington Blade/Window Media organization that editor Chris Crain had spoken to a number of sources who knew RNC chair designate Ken Mehlman was gay. Subsequently, Crain refused to approve an article which would have outed his law school colleague.

Like many articles in Washington, DC newspapers, it is what does not make it into print that is oftentimes the most interesting part of the story. Crain’s recent item about Ken Mehlman in the Washington Blade is no different. At first, I was happy to see the piece there, but as I read it I realized it was yet another case of Washington's press leaving out some of the most important parts.

Why this was withheld from Blade readers is unknown to me – from here it appears that Crain might be protecting his law school colleague. Taking a look at the recent article by Crain, one can see how carefully his words have been parsed to understand what is going on. Crain wrote:
The announcement raises mixed emotions for me. I have known Ken since we were both law students and he worked for me at the Harvard Journal of Law & Public Policy (HJLPP)…

I have no personal knowledge about his sexual orientation, but whether or not he is gay, he has ridden to success on the coattails of a candidate who betrayed the core principles that we both stood for as young political activists. (emphasis added)
Notice, blogACTIVE readers, how carefully goes out of his way to inform that he has no "personal" knowledge of Mr. Mehlman's sexual orientation. Does this mean that Chris Crain has other than “personal” knowledge? Is Crain protecting sources who have told him that they have had sex with Mehlman? With Crain's work in the past -- more about that in the take action item later in the week -- it would not surprise me if Crain was going to great lengths to protect his colleague from HJLPP. (I'll be updating blogACTIVE.com readers about that journal. It's not exactly a bastion of gay rights, if you know what I mean.)

Blade Editor refuses inquiry

After, looking at the story in its entirety and speaking to my sources at the Blade, it appears that although Crain has knowledge of Mehlman’s sexual orientation, he refuses to print it. Despite our supposed mutual interest in this matter, Mr. Crain has refused repeated requests to speak with blogACTIVE and recently engaged in an email exchange that was an attempt to steer me off of the fact that Crain and Mehlman went to law school together.

Another source, an attorney in New York City, who I met personally, has alleged that Mehlman approached him on two occasions a number of years ago in Washington, DC, once at JR’s, a popular gay bar. The attorney was in DC in an Arabic language immersion program, has provided blogACTIVE.com with a number of records, some going back to 1988, that have me believing his story. Additionally, I have spoken to two acquaintances of the attorney who have vouched for his character.

Attempts to reach Mehlman go Unanswered

While there’s no “smoking gun” with Mehlman, what makes this story most interesting is that despite repeated attempts to speak with Mr. Mehlman, his spokesperson refuses to state, on the record, that Mehlman is straight. Believable? You be the judge. The last man who refused to answer the question “Are you heterosexual?” was none other than gay congressman David Dreier.

I have made approximately half a dozen phone calls to Mr. Mehlman in an effort to discuss these allegations of his being gay at the same time that he sells the gay community down the river. Despite numerous messages, Mr. Mehlman has refused to speak with blogACTIVE.com. A message left for him on his direct personal email, inviting him to speak with me on or off the record, went unanswered. On one occasion when I reached Mehlman directly in his office he refused to answer my questions and promptly hung up the phone on me.

TAKE ACTION

Click on the GOP in your state and tell them how you feel about having gay men, Dan Gurley, head up the field operation. (Gurley, while running RNC Field operations, was on line pursuing some activities not exactly supported by the platform of the Republican Party.)

Ask if it’s consistent with their “Family Values” agenda to have a gay man, Jay Banning, in the position of Chief Financial Officer and Administrative Director.

Ask why Ken Mehlman, the man chosen to lead them, refuses to answer whether or not he is straight.

Ask how much chance the Federal Marriage Amendment has of passing with a gay man, David Dreier, as head of the House Rules Committee.

Clearly the activities are Gurley, Banning, Dreier and Mehlman are inconsistent with those pursuing a Family Values agenda. Speak out now.

Judy Shepard Responds to 20/20

Well, I watched it. Bottom line...ABC lied. They made it seem like there was some previously undisclosed information -- um, did they read Harpers in 1999?

Once again, we were treated to that right wing nut Andrew Sullivan serving as the voice of gay and lesbian Americans. Why is it that the media and the Republican Party are equally attracted to men who on one hand profess to know what is right for everyone else and on the other engage in group orgies of unprotected sex? Go figure.

Here's the start of Judy Shepard's response to tonight's broadcast. For the complete statement, click here.
On November 26, 2004, 20/20 will air a piece that promised 'new information and facts' about Matt's beating and subsequent death. Dennis and I reviewed an advance copy of the show and were dismayed and saddened by the tabloid nature of the show, its lack of serious reporting of facts in evidence, and the amateurish nature of asking leading questions to the people who were interviewed.

The Matthew Shephard Story on 20/20 Tonight

There seem to be many feelings around the Matthew Shephard story that is airing on ABC's 20/20 tonight (10pm EST). The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation has an interesting viewer guide on their website, 10 QUESTIONS ABOUT ABC’S 20/20 SHOW ON MATTHEW SHEPARD, which is worth a look.

I have met Judy Shepard, Matthew's mother, on a number of different ocassions, including a recent event at Sirius OutQ radio in New York. Don't let the soft spoken manner fool you, the lesbian and gay community has no stronger ally than Judy Shepard. At a time when many parents retreat to their private worlds, Judy Shepard has chosen a different path. Since Matthew's death, Judy has traveled the nation educating people about hate crimes and homophobia.

Now, I don't know what exactly is in the piece tonight, so I will be watching with an open mind. I will be sure to post any updates that come out after the piece airs.

Happy Holidays...and where I agree with President Bush

In the spirit of this Thanksgiving Holiday, I thought it would be nice to see if I could find an issue that I agreed with the President. I think it's great that President Bush pardoned the annual Thanksgiving turkey. Here's some more information about turkey.

On a lighter note, Andy Borowitz's site has a great piece about the Bush pardon:
President George W. Bush broke with White House tradition today, killing the ceremonial White House turkey and pardoning House Majority Leader Tom DeLay instead.

* * *

“I have political capital, and I intend to spend it -- first by killing, and then by eating, this delectable turkey,” Mr. Bush announced to the stunned onlookers, who watched as [the turkey] was dragged away by two burly secret service agents.
Make sure you check out the entire piece at Andy's site and his appearances on CNN's American Morning.

Here Kenny, Kenny...Here Kenny, Kenny....meow! (Updated)

(Wednesday 11/24, UPDATE: I'm learning a lot about the news and how it works as a result of the blog. "Release the Mehlman info on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving? Are you nuts?!" Said one of my friends in the media. Sooooo...I've decided to use the holiday weekend to catch up on old work and to make some changes to the site. I will be posting over the weekend, look for a story on Monday.

I will also endeavor to post more frequently about stories and actions relating to the hysterical level of homophobia in the country. As many of you know this is practically a one person operation...As the holiday arrives, I am thankful for all of your support.)
I've been finishing up on my Ken Mehlman article. While it will not contain the "smoking gun" some are hoping for, I think it's quite interesting that Chris Crain, editor of the Washington Blade, chose only some of the facts to report in his item in Friday's Blade.

Over at NY Press, Michelangelo Signorile has a great article about Ken Mehlman and his new job over at the RNC. Mike writes about Mehlman and recently exposed RNC Family Values Operative Dan Gurley. You can read the entire article by clicking here.

Here are a few highlights:
Surely Mehlman can't complain now that people are talking about his marital status and how he lives—right? Last week, the blogs were abuzz with stories about Mehlman, who refused to tell the Washington Blade when asked several weeks ago if he or others who worked in prominent positions in the campaign are gay.
* * *
Both Blogactive.com and Rawstory.com ran stories claiming that Gurley, whom both sites said oversaw antigay mailings that went out from the RNC, was seeking...sex online with other men. Both sites have a track record on outing, and have made an impact in recent months outing closeted members of Congress and RNC staff.

Sunday Afternoon Diversions....

I was surfing around the web -- hey, it IS Sunday afternoon -- and was checking out Washington's Gay and Lesbian Magazine, METRO WEEKLY. Currently up at the site there's an ad to "Vote for something that really counts... Coverboy of the year. "

Needing a small diversion from work, I took a look at the coverboys up for votes and of 47 candidates area only two had expressed a career in making the world a better place through a commitment to non profit work. Well, I ask: What's more attractive than a man who cares about the planet?! Men like Jonathan M. deserve our support.

Here's a bit of his profile:

A graduate of Yale with a degree in psychology and philosophy, the 23-year-old currently works as a paralegal for a law firm and is hoping to one day be an attorney with a focus on environmental crisis management. "We now have zero forests that have not been touched," he says, somewhat glumly.
To see Jonathan's Profile and cast your vote for an environmentalist, click here and click the green voting graphic. I have it on good authority that the vote count will be more accurate than Florida AND Ohio!

Busy week...It's Cat Blogging Day...and the next item...

It's been a busy week at my site, interrupted by the Gurley story. It is still hard to believe that he has no regrets about his work for the homophobes at the RNC...but more on that a little later. My article on Mehlman has grown to include his law school friend Chris Crain and others who have had their work funded by such right wing nutjobs as Scaife and the far rightleaning Federalist Society.

The piece will be up early in the week. Some new action items will be posted also.

It's Friday...so here's a couple of shots of everyone's favorite -- well, ok, my favorite -- take action kitty, Abby the Action Cat.

Editor of Washington Blade puts Mehlman's Sexual Orientation on the Table.

Chris Crain, editor of the Washington Blade has gone on line speculating about the sexual orientation of RNC Chairman-designate Ken Mehlman. The press in the nations capital considers Mehlman's private life relevant!

One of my sources inside the Blade told me this piece was coming from Crain. While, I expected it to have something a little more "juicy" -- I will share with you how one very sharp attorney parses his words to make you believe he has no information. As a great American once said, "It depends on what your definition of 'is' is."

...still developing and more news on the way!

RNC Senior Staffer Seeks Others for Unsafe Sex! (Updated)

Dan Gurley
RNC National Field Director & Deputy Political Director

Apparently, some of the staff over at the Republican National Committee are not clear about President Bush’s abstinence before marriage program, or at least that’s what I discovered tonight over at www.gay.com. I was chatting over the Washington, DC chat room when I realized that Dan Gurley, the National Field Director of the RNC was in the same chat room I was in.

On November 5th -- just days after the election -- the Christian Science Monitor reported that:
Coming off an election in which many voters cited "morals" as a top concern, Bush may use that mandate to promote responsible fatherhood, abstinence-only sex education, and "healthy marriages" in the reauthorization of welfare reform.

Bush made campaign pledges to
triple federal funds for abstinence programs in schools and community-based programs. (emphasis added)
blogACTIVE readers may recall my story of September 27th when I exposed the number two political operative of the RNC as a gay man. Here, in the midst of one of his party’s most homophobic campaigns, Dan Gurley was serving at the National Field Director of it all.

And now, in a slap in the face of the moral values wing of the party, this evening I discovered Mr. Gurley seeking unsafe sex with multiple partners, outside of his relationship. Apparently, the new rules of abstinence before marriage don’t apply to senior staff of the Republican Party. These people are PATHETIC!

When I was researching the original story on Dan Gurley I read a post about his RNC appointment which included his AOL emails (and thus instant messenger name). Because I wanted to give Mr. Gurley a chance to respond to my story, I added his AOL name, DGCapitol, to my AOL instant messenger list. Imagine my surprise when earlier tonight I saw someone with the same screenname in the gay.com chatroom!

For those of you unfamiliar with the abbreviations in the Chat Bio Line, above, this profile explains that the person lives on Capitol Hill, has pictures and his stats listed in his online profile (you can see the entire profile here.) Dan is looking to host others at his home. "bb" is the abbreviation for "barebacking" which is the term used by gay men who wish to engage in anal intercourse without a condom. R/t means "real time," or that the person is looking to meet in person. The line ends with the request to only send a private message if you have a picture to share.

UPDATE: Folks have asked me, "what is that graphic I am looking at?" When a user enters the gay.com chat room, a list of users is displayed. when you highlight one of the names, in this case, DGCapitol, the small picture appears along with a one line description which in this case is exaplained above.
Here are some other entries from Dan's profile:

Relationship status: an open relationship - Is this the family values bullshit that Mr. Gurley shoved down the nation's throat as NATIONAL FIELD DIRECTOR during the recent election campaign?

Politics: Lean right - Um, Dan, in case you did not notice, "way right" was also a choice here. Don't you think that it's more applicable to you and your day job?

Dan has this selection of photos on line:

Here's some of what visitors to gay.com see in Dan's "Adult" profile:
Now, for a quick peek under the cover...
Endowment/Dimensions: Above average, 8+ cut (not an internet 8, either)
I prefer to be: Switch/Versatile, I'll be whatever you want me to be!
I like to have sex...: 3-5 times a week, I'm usually ready...and available
Body Hair: Arms, Chest, Pits, Tummy, Legs, I shave occasionally, all over
In my own words: Just looking for good sex, whether with one or several. Always versatile and love to fool around. Race is not a factor, just be purportional [sic] and bring some personality with you.
Things I'm into: Anal sex, Body contact, Groups, Kissing, One-on-one, Oral sex, Porn
With all of these right wingers in DC running around looking for bareback sex with multiple partners, you think they would start some kind of club: Paging Andrew Sullivan...Andrew Sullivan, please call the RNC Political Office.

S.F. Chronicle Covers Outings

This morning's San Fancisco Chronicle has a page one story about the work of blogACTIVE.com. Here are some excerpts:
Particularly in the Bay Area, supporters argue that outing is a reasonable tactic because it can be effective but doesn't necessarily end careers and lives, as it used to. The practice is unstoppable anyway, they said, because the Internet and the country's culture of disclosure has turned privacy into a quaint anachronism.
* * *
"If someone was African American and passing as white, what would be so shocking about saying, 'Excuse me, you're black and you're supporting George Wallace?' " [activist Robin] Tyler said. "I think outing is terrific -- especially of prominent politicians. What are we protecting? Their right to discriminate?"
* * *
Rogers said he sticks to outing people whom he believes are hurting gays and lesbians, although he tends to interpret "hurting" somewhat more loosely than some peers. Rogers received some angry e-mails after outing a Republican who had never cast a vote against gay rights. Rogers said she was outing- worthy because she campaigned for a politician with an anti-gay record and accepted his help during her own campaign for a judgeship.
The Judge, of course, is Jennifer Helms Knox, the women who ran on the rabidly anti gay platform after running her homophobic grandfather's (Jesse Helms) campaigns for US Senate.

Zell Miller, Anti-Semite

A great read in today's NY Times. Columnist Maureen Down exposes the "religious" right and the anti-Semite that is Zell Miller:
One fiery Southern senator actually accused a nice Catholic columnist of having horns coming up out of her head!
* * *

Sounding more like the head of a mob family than a ministry, Dr. Dobson told Mr. Stephanopoulos about a warning he issued a White House staffer after the election that the president and Republicans had better deliver on issues like abortion, gay marriage and conservative judges or "I believe they'll pay a price in the next election."

Certainly Mr. Specter has done his part for the conservative cause. He accused Anita Hill of "flat-out perjury" for a minor inconsistency in her testimony against Clarence Thomas, that good Christian jurist who once had a taste for porn films.

Friday Cat Blogging...Meet Abby The Action Cat

Abby The Action Cat
Protecting blogACTive research from CATastrophe!

I recently heard about an item in the New York Times (reg. reqd.) about the phenomenon of Friday Cat Blogging:
In the vitriolic world of political Web logs, two polar extremes are Eschaton (atrios.blogspot.com), a liberal, often anti-Bush site with a passionate following, and Instapundit (www.instapundit.com), where an equally fervent readership goes for hearty praise of the administration.

It would seem unlikely that the two blogs' authors could see eye-to-eye about anything. Yet Eschaton's Duncan Black (known as Atrios) and Instapundit's Glenn Reynolds have both taken part in a growing practice: turning over a blog on Friday to cat photographs.

Abby, whose full name is Abigal Adams Morgan Muchacha von Holland, is a two year old calico. We met when her old owners put an ad up on Craigslist.org. Abby is an important member of the blogACTIVE.com team. I'll present a picture of Abby hard at work for blogACTIVe every Friday.

Reaching out to Our American Family...

And, now, from the I can read something longer than a soundbite department...

The American Family is being torn apart. I don't mean the small units of two, three, four or more people who make a nuclear family...I mean the family that is almost 300 million of us. Our American Family has not yet healed from its divisions of the past. Some say the Civil War is still being fought and the politically motivated creation of groups like Swift Boat Veterans for Truth demonstrate how uncomfortable some would be with a President who has seen the horrors of a misguided war and who might have the ability to lead the nation through some self-examination.

Yet, the divisions that divide us by the millions also divide us personally. It takes a variety of voices to reach out across the lines of division and I am happy to present one such effort here.

If you agree with me, please take a moment to click here to send Donna Brown a quick note of thanks. Voices like hers, reaching across the great divide, will help to unite us once again and to move us forward to a place where every young gay or lesbian person is free to grow up safe and free from hate and prejudice.

Mehlman Story Raises Its Legs

They say a story has "legs" when it has staying power. If that's the case...Ken Mehlman's legs...oh never mind....

Here's a great story from a bastion of conservatism, Southern Methodist University:
Would he continue to support the President knowing that Bush-Cheney campaign manager Ken Mehlman, who is considering running for Chair of the RNC, was a closeted homosexual? In all fairness to Mehlman, requests from numerous news organizations that he respond to rumors about his sexuality have gone unanswered. Regardless, when was the last time you met a straight man who refused to confirm that he was straight?

Is Ken Mehlman Gay? and if not, why wouldn't Steve Schmidt say so on the record?

Hi speed or DSL?

I was rather amazed to hear that Ken Mehlman might be running for Chair of the RNC. As we now know, Kenny ran one of the most homophobic campaigns in US History and now there's a rather interesting article about Ken over at John Aravosis' AmericaBlog.org. Here are some highlights from John's item:
Now, I have no idea whether Ken Mehlman is gay, bi or straight. But therein lies the problem. In the face of longtime rumors, this 37 year old single man has, oddly, refused to answer questions about his sexual orientation. I can't recall many, if any, straight men who refuse to acknowledge that they're straight - if anything, most are a bit too obvious about it - and that ultimately leads to speculation, caused by Mehlman's own failure to respond to a direct question posed by a reporter.

America is in the throes of a culture war, nurtured by groups like the RNC and people like Ken Mehlman. Americans have a right to know which side of the culture war Ken Mehlman is on, and whether, as RNC chair, he's would be a fifth columnist for those very forces that the RNC tells us are out to steal America's Bibles and jam homosexual sex down its throats and the throats of its children.
Now, this is where it gets interesting. During the Republican Convention, I was about to run a piece about Ken Mehlman. While I was writing the piece, the two sources I was in contact with told me that they were called by unnamed press folks at the GOP and had decided to not go public with their story. Around the same time, TWO New York City newspapers were called by press folks at the Bush Campaign attempting to kill the Mehlman story...it worked. Within hours of hearing about these calls from the campaign to my sources and news outlets I received a call from Steve Schmidt, Deputy Communications Director of Bush Cheney '04, who personally called me to tell me that Ken was "not gay." Then I asked Steve if he would go on the record and say on the record if Ken Mehlman was gay or not and get this, HE REFUSED TO GO ON THE RECORD!

So, we have the Deputy Communications Director of the Bush Cheney Campaign refusing to go on the record! Interesting, eh?

I called over the the Bush campaign this morning to speak to Ken. I was quite surprised when he picked up his own phone. Immediately after I identified myself and explained that I was to write a story on Ken running for RNC Chair, Ken refused to answer any questions and hung up immediately.

Hmmmmm, Ken...do you have something to hide?

There will be plenty of opportunity for blogACTIVE readers to take action on this item as we keep you updated...

Election Fraud? You be the judge...

Kitty Kelley called this election months ago when she noted that the Bush family is worse than The Soporanos, so it's no surprise to me that Bush won, regardless of what the voters said.

Rex Wockner circulated an intersting memo today...You can read the entire letter by clicking here or you can read the beginning below and then follow to the jump.

Rex noted in his email with the note that while the source of the letter is unknown, it appears to be a group of "mainstream journalists working on the sly"

-Mike

Since the presidential election, accounts of voter fraud and malfunctioning voting machines have flooded into local newspapers, to public-interest groups, to universities, and to weblogs.

This letter is an overview of those reports. The stories are summarized here, with links to the original publications. After seeing this evidence - and there is more still to be rounded up - you will most probably suspect that Bush did not win the election. Many accounts of election tampering are included, but a broad search has still to be done. The following is only what has been learned in the few days since the election. Clearly, an investigation is needed.

The following is a compilation of the initial research of one group of concerned journalists. It seems that there is enough evidence in the following to suggest that the electorate may have actually chosen Kerry for President. It cannot be known for sure unless...

Any questions?

Take a look at where we are headed...

Then there is the matter of the federal constitutional amendment to prevent gays from marrying. Bush began pushing for the amendment shortly after the Massachusetts Supreme Court approved gay marriage, but the legislation failed this year partly because Republicans could not agree on whether it should include a ban on civil unions. (story)

The amendment's author, Marilyn Musgrave won reelection to the House from Colorado. On Wednesday she said she intends to reintroduce the measure in the next session of Congress. This time, she predicts, Republicans will be unified.

Buckle your seatbelts, it's going to be a bumpy ride...

I have been wondering what kind of future there will be for blogACTIVE.com. The messages on the comments board are all interesting and I appreciate the dialogue. As hard as it is for me, I've endeavored to step out of most of the conversation to let the work of blogACTIVE.com speak for itself. I'm pulling some ideas together and look forward to sharing them with you.

In the meantime, please continue to comment on the values and downside of outing. I am reviewing all the comments and plan on doing a poll of blogACTIVE Confidential subscribers soon.

Thanks so much to those who rallied support behind this work over the past few weeks. I never knew how important it would be in the important dialogue about our lives. Over the next few days I will dig myself out from thousands of emails....I will be getting back to as many of you as possible.

In the meantime, please keep the comments and mail coming. If you'd like to write directly to me, my email is editor@blogactive.com.

PS: I've heard mixed reviews over the Jennifer Helms Knox story. I'll be discussing that story and why it IS so important, despite the mainstream media's slowness in putting it up. (Remember folks, that's the SAME mainstream media who created Marygate out of nothingness. Shame on them.)

From blogACTIVE's Comment Board

This was posted on the comments board today:
I think its time to expand the outing campaign -- celebrities should be fair game. They effect the culture of self-hate. And what's even worse is that openly gay agents, managers and publicists encourage this.

The next group is the "moral values" crowd.

It's obvious that this will have to become more aggressive. The media is obviously not going to cover outings. So its going to have to be flyers on peoples windshields and ads in their newspapers.
What say the readers?

Off to add to the Kerry/Edwards Majority

OK...busy morning...lots of calls relating to the Michigan callers and I appreciate the tips and leads to the source of the calls. I'm learning in DC that you can tell a lot about people based on who does and does not return your calls.

For the moment, I'm off to connect the lines....yes...2004 and in the Nation's capital we vote with #2 pencils and lines. (Banks can manage billions of dollars every day via ATM and the world's most powerful democracy can't manage an accurate vote of the people -- seems more like DOESN'T WANT AN ACCURATE VOTE.)

Anyway...I digress...I'm off to the polls....and to add my number to the growing numbers coming out to add to the Kerry majority.

Prediction....

Well, Bush certainly blew the gay vote (and I don't mean in a good way)....

There are some hard right wing gays out there still supporting The Hateful One. In response to those foolish folks, John Aravosis, the publisher of AmericaBlog said it best:
George Bush ... is so bad on gay issues that even the Log Cabin Republicans are actively trying to undercut his re-election. If Log Cabin can't tolerate this man, the rest of you have no excuse.
That being said, there's one gay blogger who doesn't get the "Bush is a homophobe" thing predicting a 52%-48% race in favor of Bush, with the pResident picking up 310 votes in the Electoral College. Meanwhile, Kos over at DailyKos.com predicts 311 electoral votes for John F. Kerry. I'm not sure I am as optimistic as Kos, but I do believe that Kerry closed the deal and will, by the time Hawaii's four votes come in for the Democratic nominee, win with 299 electoral votes. The final count will be 50.5% for JFK, 48.5% for Bush, 1.0 for the others.

Here's an auto-updating count from Electoral-Vote.com, which has been leaning Bush for weeks.

Michigan GOP Condemns Hate Calls....

I've just had a discussion with the Executive Director of the Michigan GOP and I believe him when he tells me that the state party had nothing to do with the calls referred to in this AP Story.

I have also spoken to representatives of the National GOP and am awaiting a callback. It's strange....for some reason I was hopeful that in light of Marygate and such that the forces of hate would be smarter than this.

I will keep you updated on this...I have some leads I am researching about the companies making these calls. In the meantime, I congratulate the Michigan GOP for condemning this last minute effort to turn Michigan against Kerry. The party's director slammed the calls and their content in my phone call with him. He was very strong in the condemnation of these calls. It sounds like the rtight wing forces of the country are on a huge collision course. Now....
I wonder why the spokesman from the national GOP office was not so quick to slam these tactics.....more as it develops.

And they said WE sounded desperate!

Oh, if you know ANYTHING about the source of these calls, please send info to tips@blogactive.com.
