The Advocate on Roy Cohn & G. David Schine

The latest issue of The Advocate educates a new generation of gay readers about one of our community's greatest traitors Roy Cohn. Cohn, the namesake of this site's award is detailed in an item by Sarah Wildman:
The senator's top aide was closet case Roy Cohn, who played a key role in his boss's [Senator Joe McCarthy witch hunt and in his dramatic televised downfall.Cohn, attempted to use his influence to save the object of his affections, G. David Schine, from serving in Korea. In a test of wits, the Pentagon not only refused Cohn, but also made public the many times Cohn intervened on behalf of the Army private. Wildman explains how Cohn's witch hunt against gays was an effort to cover up his relationship with Schine.
Accusing the Army of sending Schine to war to ruin the investigation of communists in the military, resulted in the now famous Army-McCarthy hearings, which ultimately led to the downfall of McCarthy.
