On second thought....

I felt it was quite a lead when I learned that a senior staffer in Congress had decided to indicate that he was "straight acting." What made the revelation especially interesting is that this senior staffer is one of the very same gay men who has been protecting his boss, a closeted member of Congress with less than a stellar record on gay rights.

After I wrote the post I ran it by a handful of folks -- as I always do -- who I trust for advice and input on this work. Unanimously, they said, 'Don't do it." I'm smart enough to listen to those folks I trust on these matters and while I suspect that I could convinced them about the value of this one, I decided to heed their advice.

Looking over the decision, I think having a senior staffer in Congress covering for a closet case is A LOT more frequent than this one case... so just having the dialogue in important.

There are those, however, who want to goods.... Sorry about that, but here's a little more.

As for the term "straight acting," I pity the man (and yes, you never see women saying, 'straight acting') who must go through life acting every day -- but then again, perhaps that's why he works for Congress.

Tomorrow, the blogACTIVE take on Brokeback Mountain.
