Coast to coast radio tonight at 11pm eastern time

I will be on the Alan Colmes radio show tonight at 11pm Eastern Time. Here's a link to the station finder. After O'Reilley lied to me on national TV, I stopped appearing on Fox News shows. But, rules are made to be broken and Alan deserves a great deal of respect for going to work every day in that den of propaganda.

Radio appearance: Tuesday March 22

Mark Foley: Anoteher closeted anti-gay GOPer

blogACTIVE.com has confirmed with three separate sources that, in fact, US Rep. Mark Foley is a gay man. Foley has voted to support discrimination against gay men and lesbians on more than one occasion.

In addition to the hypocrisy of Foley's vote for the Defense of Marriage Act, Foley also refuses to acknowledge the role his being in the closet played in his lack of support for his run for the US Senate. Equating being gay with some disgusting secret, Foley said it was 'repulsive' to talk about sexual oritentation.

A source has confirmed with blogACTIVE.com that Foley lives a practically an out life at his Florida residence, often seen entertaining gay men, some of whom the source described as "close to underage."

"Well entertaining men does not make someone gay," I said. "Mike, please, I lived across from his house, I watch his parties, he's gay, gay, gay." Since I know the source and his work in the community quite well, I am going to give him full faith.

Another source has told me about his being approached on two occasions in what was "definitely an approach in a sexual way," a 27 year-old man told me. "Once it was at a large poltiical event and once at a party in Florida."

I've thought hard about what kind of TAKE ACTION would work, but there is really is none right now. Everyone already knows Foley's a self hating closet case. When we get closer to the mid-term elections, I am sure more will surface.

The NY Post has a story about my work today. It's amazing what an article in GQ coming out can do for publicity. With the coincidence of the President renewing his call for the Federal Marriage Amendment, the timing of the article couldn't be better.

I'm reminded of all the conservatives I met at last week's online politics conference. The vast majority of them admitted to me that they completely disagree with their base on gay marriage. Then they went on and on about how high the "open" rates were on emails about gay marriage. We have a word for people like that: Pigs.

I have a feeling this issue of GQ will sell out all over DC...

Be sure to check out the latest edition of GQ, there's an article in the issue on my work. John Byrne has an article about the story up at RawStory.

In the interest of full disclosure, I am the editor of RawStoryQ, a niche site affiliated with RawStory. You can get to RawStoryQ by clicking on the picture below:

Senator Reid in great interview

In his first interview with an on-line media company, Senator Harry Reid touched on a number of issues of interest to blogACTIVe.com readers.

Be sure to see what the Senator had to say about the future of civil rights legislation under the current leadership.

The update, the timeline

Greetings...

Guilty as charged. I have waited far too long to update the faithful on the Foley situation. (oh, he's STILL gay!). I have a meeting on the phone today at 3:30 with one of my key sources and then I will be writing the finishing items up and then posting once it's vetted one last time....I hope :-)... As always...the lawyers and others advisors have to review, rereview and rerereview.

In the midst of it all...I attended a conference, updated three websites, worked on a new business, and even spent some time doing work for this blog... Maybe some day when those ads generate more than a few bucks a day I'll be able to get stuff up as fast as everyone would like.

As faithful readers know, sometimes I need to get on a plane, in a car, or catch a train...without being able to tell you about right away. My latest little trip: VERY PRODUCTIVE-- The delay in the Foley story has allowed me to shore up a resource for many new and interesting stories to come.

And....I almost forgot....

Remember Jennifer Helms-Knox? Jesse Helm's lesbian grandaugter is mentioned in the new GQ article about blogACTIVE.com. There's some other interesting references too....Union station bathrooms...administration officials... and even Steve Schmidt saying on the record that Ken Mehlman is not gay! Hmmmmm...perhaps Steve didn't talk to my sources at the gym frequented by Mr Mehlman.

Be back soon...much sooner...I promise...

I've spent the afternoon at the preeminent conference for online politics....Most important was learning about the upcoming Federal Election Commission rules. I'll be sure to regularly read the FEC site and I think that it would be in the interest of bloggers and news sites to offer testimony about the new rules.

The conference sessions, both the plenary and break out meeting on starting on-line movements, were informative. It was tomorrow's session with Kenny Mehlman that I was looking forward to...but, as I informed readers yesterday, he bailed.
I'll be sure to post more about the conference tomorrow.

Oh well...two steps forward, one step back

Kenny Mehlman, a gay man, at work
on the anti-gay Bush campaign.

I am about to leave for the on-line politics conference at George Washington University. Ken Mehlman was going to speak. He heard I was going to be there. He bailed. Concidence? Only Kenny knows for sure.

Democrats are bottoms?

Great read by Nancy Goldtein on RawStoryQ about the need for the Democrats to be a little, um, shall we say, butcher?

Check out her piece...it's great.
This is the way that Democrats need to learn to fight. Because cozying up to the schoolyard bully in the hope that he’ll go easy on you, or hugging yourself against the schoolhouse wall hoping he won’t notice you, is a losing strategy. It’s time to put the fight back into the dog.

What's on the way.

Here's a note from Mark Foley's site in his handwriting.
You need more proof, you say?
Source: www.house.gov/foley

Greetings.

The post with all of the information on Rep. Mark Foley (R-FL) is delayed for a number of reasons. I want to use this opportunity to let you know the updated schedule as it's a little different than other cases here, basically because it's just not a secret here in DC that Mark Foley is gay.

Yes, I admit that I put up the initial post about Foley a little too quickly...oh well. I was sitting here in SHOCK that a gay man would vote for a law that allowed a group to fire a man or woman who was gay, EVEN IF LOCAL LAWS PROHIBITED IT! So in my moment of anger, I posted the item on Foely. You see, Mark Foley's homosexuality not exactly like Ed Schrock or even David Drier. It's not like it's an open secret in DC, it's not a secret at all.

Once I put up my original post, some additional information came in, some of it from a very well known source in the gay community who agreed to speak with me on the record and be identified by name. I am in the process of rewriting the information and will be verifying it and getting it up soon.

Now, this would all be much simpler, if this was my full time job. For those of you who are eager to get the information so you can participate in what will be one of our more creative actions to date...I appreciate your patience. For those of you who just can't bear to wait another minute, I ask you to think of yourself as an important cog in the ‘psy ops’ machine...after all., it’s House.gov servers that are, by far, the most frequent visitors to the site. If you think the waiting is driving you crazy, imagine what it's doing to visitors from these sites:

Howdy Visitors...from our house to your House, welcome!

I've got some exciting meetings over the next two days about some of the cases in the blogACTIVE.com files and in my spare time, I'm updating RawStoryQ. As soon as there are 40 hours in the day...I promise the stuff will come faster.

If you would like to put a historical perspective on the very gay Rep. Foley, take a look at this article here, and here, and this one too, and here too! Lord, is there ANYONE left who doesn't know that Mark Foley is gay?

Anyway.... It's another late night....more on Foley soon....and the others that we're learning about.

Developing news....

Greetings readers. I know folks are eagerly awaiting my article on Mark Foley, the gay US Representative from Florida who voted to allow discrimination against gays and lesbians by hate groups -- groups funded by the US government no less! As often happens when I put up a teaser about someone, additional information comes forward -- let me tell you...Mark Foley is not the only closet case in the Sunshine State who works against the gay community.

I've got everything together and once it gets through the usual process of having the t's crossed and i's dotted...I'll get more info up soon. I expect to have a post up today. If there is any further delay, I'll be sure to post a note of explanation.

-Mike

Coincidence? Psychic phenomenon? A very busy Karl Rove?

Jeff Gannon, the newest voice on the right wing blogosphere never served at The New Republic like his fellow blogger Andrew Sullivan, but apparently some of the republic’s great military leaders have serviced Mr. Gannon.

As Talon News promises a "top-to-bottom" review of its staff and volunteers, my congratulations to the now-closed news service for getting right to the point. We know from the on-line reviews of Mr. Gannon's prostitution services that he must be the "top" in the conservative news site’s introspection. I wonder if the rest of the media thinks that it's just as relevant a question as to whom the "bottom(s)" may be. I can tell you this much readers, this story is NOT about private sex lives and it’s NOT about the right to be gay in private.

This issue is about much more than that. I found it funny that Ann Coulter actually attempted to claim the civil rights high ground by framing an argument that Gannon is a victim of anti-gay forces. Did I miss Gannon saying he was gay? Or, finally understanding the work or blogACTIVE, is Coulter now in favor of his "outing"? The questions that Coulter is not asking are the same ones the White House has refused to answer for me.

Now, a bit about the timing here; is it coincidence that Gannon's rise comes on heels of “pretty-boy-cum-bear-man/blogger” Sullivan walking off stage right for a break?:
After much hemming and hawing, I've decided to put the blog as you've known it on hiatus for a few months. The Dish will still exist, the site will be updated weekly with new feature articles, and I'll still post when I feel like it. But it won't have the regularity or content of the past four and a half years.
Almost seamlessly, Gannon is up and running with his new site:
I'm baaaaaaack! If you thought I was going to slink away - then you don't know much about me. Someone still has to battle the Left and now that I've emerged from the crucible, I'm stronger than [sic] before.
Well, it’s not like Gannon ever really left, right? And now, with the void being left by Sullivan, Gannon can step right in and fill his shoes. Gannon’s site will allow him to publish his “voice of new media” even though his former employer, Talon News, quickly scrubbed all of his articles. Soon thereafter, amid numerous allegations of plagiarism throughout the site, it closed down entirely.

For a party with a proud tradition of Roy Cohn, Joe McCarthy, Terry Dolan, David Dreier and Ken Mehlman, Sullivan's move makes sense. From here it seems that even Andrew is wising up to the crowd he’s been in bed with (politically and literally). Happy travels Sully -- and remember, it didn't go unnoticed that all your travel plans are beyond George Bush'’s America.

As Sullivan moves to the honor roll of gay men who have sold their community down the river in exchange for personal gain, Gannon will attempt to fill the void.

While some may find it curious that a whore has been installed as as the latest voice of news and information on the right, I believe Gannon’'s success among the other neo-con news operations such as Fox News and the Washington Times is all but assured. And, from my perspective, it is better to know the enemy in the light of day than to have him hiding in the briefing -- and de-briefing -- rooms of the White House.

For the past few years the one out-of-the-closet television talking head, Sullivan, had views that do not represent an overwhelming majority of the lgbt community. Now comes along a deposed prostitute who says “he was so feared by the left that they had to tear him down.” Quite the contrary, Mr. Gannon, the right wing will do a perfectly good job of that all by themselves.
