Trainwreck alert: Gannon on Maher tonight

YEP. I used Steve Koval's headline from his blog post over at Southern Voice...but only because he is 100% right. I only wish that Maher had the sense to put Gannon on the panel so he could be shredded in person.

Here's some of what SoVo's best blogger wrote...
James Guckert (also known as Jeff Gannon at the White House) is harder to get rid of than a bad case of the crabs. The former White House correspondent and reported former gay call boy (man?) will be appearing tonight on HBO's "Real Time with Bill Maher" according to a post on Guckert's Web site.
...
Don't count on getting an answer to Maher's question or any others about Guckert's past. He consistently refuses to answer them. Nevertheless, this is a trainwreck that calls out for viewing.
...
By my watch, Guckert's 15 minutes should have been up about two months ago.

Suggestion for Southern Voice: If the rumors being leaked by staff at your parent company are true...make sure Koval is on your short list to run the shop. He's proof that despite Crain's performance, you can be a good journalist after law school.

Jeff...the dinner doesn't allow attendance by e-mail!

Jeff Gannon latest complaint is on the NY Post's Page Six:
April 29, 2005 -- DISGRACED former White House reporter/male escort Jeff Gannon can't believe no one has invited him to tomorrow's White House Correspondents Dinner. "
...
"Probably many who would want to extend such an invitation already assume I will be in attendance."
...
The sub-par star lineup this year includes Robert Duvall, Burt Reynolds, Randy Quaid, Ron Silver, Patricia Heaton and Anne Hathaway.
The boy whiner also has an interesting item on his own blog, JamesGuckert.com about the Advocate's cover story on blogging:
I wonder if those same bloggers will be attacking the Advocate for presenting me as something less than completely despicable. STORY
Actually, no, Jeff -- I'm MUCH more interested in finding out why you only let the Advocate interview you by E-MAIL! And, while we're asking questions, Jeff... I'll repeat what you refused to answer at the press club: "Mr. Gannon, who in the White House staff or in elected office did you sleep with prior to obtaining your White House press credentials?"

It's not really that hard of a question, Jeff/James, is it? If you require of me what you required of the Advocate, please feel free to answer via email at our special address just for you:

President Frist?

"Brilliant." That's the word used by no less than four people today when describing RawStoryQ columnist Nancy Goldstein's The Passion of the Frist:
Yes, 60 years after the Holocaust, archconservatives that have always accused people of color, LGBT people, and women of playing the victim, and who now use bullying and coercion in their attempts to bypass the Constitution and level the wall between church and state, are trying to claim the moral high ground of persecution.
If you think that the rise of the radical right in this country is something not to worry about, make sure you don't read Nancy's piece....it will turn your beliefs on their end.

Fun fact of the day

I really like this item at GayOrbit.net

I won't give it away, but I'll tell you it involves:

-"the public trough"
- "lobbyist-paid vacations
-"special interest groups"
And I really like how you find the answer (no need to even let go of your mouse!)

Another battle in the war against gays...

What is Magellan Health Services doing with associates of the Concerned Women for America, Family Research Council and Illinois Family Institute on their National Professional Advisory Council.

Will they be looking for Mengele to add next?

Please WAPO, say it ain't so!

From today's Washington Post website...

Please, goddess, send me a sign that is is not some advance plan accidentally leaked by the Washington Post or the AP (the caption's author).

UPDATE: Oh AP, please stop this...it looks like it's your captioning problem. Do you want me to have a heart attack? Here's another sighting of "Speaker" Delay:

Damn, that's scary!

Jackpot for The Petrelis Files

It took an AIDS Activist from California to do what the mainstream media has not been able to do: get W's FBI File. With folks in the White House Press Pool afraid to ask the tough questions of Jeff Gannon and Scott McClellan, does it make us wonder why an activist in Caifornia had to make this happen?

Congratulations to Michael. His site, The Petrelis Files has shown that it's bloggers in the forefront of media today. When Michael came to DC last year to demand the release of these files, the media did not even bother to show up for his press conference at the FBI Headquarters. When I think of the millions of dollars that's spent on trashing the left by the likes of Fox News, it makes me wonder how we can better direct our money and other resources in this fight.

Please stop by Michael Petrelis' site, The Petrelis Files and thank him by sending a few bucks his way. No matter how tight it is, I know I'm about to do it. Hopefully you can too.

TAKE ACTION: Microsoft eases the pain for GLASS Caucus members

Remember the GLASS Caucus? They're the association for gay and lesbian staff of the United States Senate. While they have a problem with blogACTIVE.com exposing hypocrites, they have no problem getting into bed with Microsoft, the company giving our community the shaft.

On the bright side, I'm happy to report that our gay and lesbian brothers and sisters on Capital Hill have declared their rightful place on the gravy train that is Washington politics. In addition to Microsoft, the one year old organization has already gotten support from such corporate titans as Hewlett-Packard, Symantec, Cisco, and NCR. And none other than the multinational Dow Chemical Corporation is sponsoring the group's birthday party!

While these folks drink on the money we spend on products like Windows XP, organizations in our community are being forced to use their limited resources to fight back against companies like Microsoft.

So, While Bill Gates and his team are screwing over gays and lesbians in Washington state, they're paying for screwdrivers in Washington, DC! And to think, Microsoft had claimed that they only bailed on us because they were focusing their limited resources on other work. I bet! Have you seen the price of a cocktail at Halo these days?

TAKE ACTION: Click here to open an email to the leaders of the GLASS Caucus and tell them to refund the support they received from Microsoft and to take a stand against the software giant's turning their back on gays.

TAKE ACTION: Log Cabin Republicans Failure Watch: Day 8

Yep. You read it right yesterday. I tried to call Chris Barron yesterday to directly open a dialogue so I could help the Log Cabin club do the job our community needs them to.

Log Cabin Republicans Outlook reminders

I'm guessing that after I took Chris to the woodshed on the CBS affiliate last summer he was banned from appearing with me on television (now, THAT was a smart move by LCR). You'd think the Log Cabin Republicans would be smarter than to match up a political neophyte with an activist with twenty years behind him. Seeing how Paul Koering was also passed off to Barron, it begs the question: Just who is in charge at the Log Cabin Republicans? If Chris Barron is the guy who closeted politicians are supposed to deal with (even if unsuccessfully) and he's the public face of LCR on television, just what is Patrick's job? It's all so confusing.

Since the boys at LCR have completely lost focus, I'm going to assist them with a new feature. LCR Failure Watch is now in Day 8. That's right, people...A sitting State Senator has come out of the closet and voted with our community and OVER a week has gone by without ANY formal congratulations message on the club's website.

TAKE ACTION: PLEASE CLICK HERE TO TELL THE LOG CABIN CLUB THAT THEY SHOULD CONGRATULATE SENATOR KOERING ON THEIR WEBSITE.

I'll update the calendar and each day, I'll shoot a link so LCR members at the site can send a reminder to the team(?) over there. How many days will our community need to wait for Log Cabins to do their job?

My Phone Call Calls With Chris Barron....Developing

I've tried....and tried....and tried.....

It is absolutely amazing to me, readers, that people in our community who are supposed to build bridges do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to further the cause. What more can I do than call Chris Barron and beg him to talk to me about other closeted Republicans? And he hangs up the p[hone on me twice? Even before I can tell him why I am calling? Let me ask you this readers...If you were a closeted member of the GOP and you found out that Mike Rogers of blogACTIVE was trying to intervene on your behalf with their "political director," would you want them to hang up on me? I mean, what ARE these people thinking?

To my contact in Dallas...this is exactly what I was talking about when I said these people just don't care. So, I'm off to photoshop...Just how many days will it take Patrick Gurrierro and the all male leadership team at the Log Cabin Club to publicly congratulate Senator Koering on his coming out.

Back in a few... Here I go.....

TAKE ACTION: Time to rate the national office of Log Cabin Republicans

HAVING A PARTY? A+
SERVING THE PARTY: F

In the wake of the courageous coming out story of MN State Senator Paul Koering (R-Brainerd) (It's nice to have my work vindicated) the Log Cabin Republicans continue, a week after the fact, to blow it (and not in the way they are used to, if you know what I mean).

Not only have these geniuses gone negative with a sitting State Senator, but it's now a week since he has come out and still NO STATEMENT ON THEIR SITE! Who is advising these people, Bob "let's lose another election" Shrum?
Knock Knock. Hello?! Log Cabin, If You are our community's best hope for reaching into the heartland of GOP officials? We're in more trouble than I ever realized!
Exactly what planet are the guys at Log Cabin living on? (I says "guys" because of the five people on their management team, ZERO are women (so much for that big tent garbage):
Hello, phone call for Log Cabin Republicans National Office, it's the 21st century on the line, care to join us?!"
For those of you working from inside the Log Cabin structure to bring about change, thank you! We don't always agree on everything, but one thing is abundantly clear: the failings of the national office to serve the needs of members in the states is astonishing. Our community -- not just one party or the other -- is suffering because of these failings. If you are in the states fighting, don't give up...we need you more than ever before.

I have made more than my share of overtures to the DC Log Cabin team...and just the other day, after five phone calls, I am still without the public documents I asked for. Amazing, simply amazing.

TAKE ACTION

Tell Christopher Barron (Log Cabin Political Director) and Jeff Cook (Log Cabin National Field Director) that IT'S TIME for the Log Cabin Republicans to post a congratulatory note on their site for Senator Koering, a hero in the party and Minnesota. GOP members PLEASE write to the Log Cabin organization. Be sure to mention if you're a Republican...it's important for the club to hear from those it's intended to serve.

And an additional bit relating to that big tent stuff:

While you're going to the trouble of writing the note, be sure to remind Patrick and Chris, that it's OK to hire women in positions of leadership. Having a woman on the membership team might help the club with outreach to um, women!

Log Cabin Management Team Scorecard:
Men: 5
Women: 0

So, Alan Colmes was right! Most people didn't know Drudge was gay!?!?

'Ssssssssssssstop. I am so not a gay man.' (left),
and the man who 'outed' him (right).

I had a great time on Alan Colmes' radio show a few weeks back. I'm proud of how well I did. (They kept extending my fifteen minutes until and hour went by). Alan's team is awesome, thanks to each of them for making it a great experience. It's nice to have someone so civilized on our issues. Anyway...when Matt Drudge came up on the show, I just assumed that EVERYONE knew he was gay. David Brock over at Media Matters for America "outed" Drudge in his book a while back.

What does Drudge do when he is not plugged into cyberspace? "That's a very good question and I’m not going to discuss it," he replies.

"Hold on, Matt," I say, "you're always exposing the private lives of public figures. You can't go all coy now."

"I'm not very social. I live on an island in Miami, Florida, and I do my own shopping and pay my taxes," he says. "And I"m not mean."

That is not the way that Drudge's critics see it. David Brock, a former right-wing journalist, claimed in his book Blinded by the Right that Drudge was gay, yet supported a party that these critics see as 'homophobic'".

"So are you a gay right-wing Republican?" I ask.

"No, I'm not gay. I was nearly married a few years ago. And no, I'm not a right-wing Republican," he replies without batting an eye. "I'm a conservative and want to pay less taxes. And I did vote Republican at the last election. But I'm more of a populist.
"

So Matt says he not gay. Bi? Experimenting? Lincolnish?

At blogACTIVE I never draw conclusions before researching the facts. I've opened a file on Drudge so we can get some of the details out there. (Nothing quite as salacious as a stain on a blue dress -- but, if true, pretty damned close!) In the meantime, if anyone out there from Miami to Los Angeles has any information they'd like to, um, drudge up from friends, please have them send me an email at this special box. I'll use this time to go back through my tips boxes and see what I have.

Mary and Mary: Quite contrary (to the truth, that is!)

A Tale of Two Mary's
Cheney (right) was forbidden from talking about her
life according to Matalin(-Carville) (further to the right).

With lying pundits like Mary Matalin(-Carville) calling the shots, no wonder Mary Cheney is about to cash in on her memoirs.

Remember the freak out by momma Lynne when people brought up that her daughter traveled the country going to gay leather events for Coors beer? Well, it ends up that it wasn't the lefties that were trying to manage Mary...it was her own family that told her to shut up. (Of course, the same didn't hold true for Mary's heterosexual sister with kids. Here's what Q-notes has to say on the matter:
Mary Matalin[(-Carville)], a Republican political strategist and the head of the Simon & Schuster division, said that Cheney was barred from discussing her personal life while working as a top aide on her father’s 2000 and 2004 campaigns, but that the memoir will give her an opportunity to speak her mind. (emphasis added.)
How Mary Cheney looks at her mother or father with a shred of respect is something I will never understand...but even pigs have parents, I guess.

Los Angeles Daily News: Dreier a top!

Boifromtroy, always on top of the latest. As I expose the Log Cabin Republicans and their repeated failures, it's nice to know at least one gay GOP blogger is focused on the same people I am. Here's an item from his delicious blog....
Attention Mike Rogers! Local Paper Reports: "Dreier is Top"
I almost emailed Mike Rogers at Blogactive when I read the headline on a story in the Morning's Los Angeles Daily News...
Every gay and lesbian Democrat in America should read the Boifromtroy... Yes Virginia, there is sanity on the other side of the political spectrum.

Memo: To: Log Cabin Republicans...

(UPDATE at 11pm: Sound file swapped for a WMA file...sorry for the problems this should work.)

LCR: Here's a REPUBLICAN State Senator in Minnesota speaking on the record about his experiences with your organization.

Click here to listen to the Windows Media Player file, right click to download.
(Bloggers, webmasters, reporters & friends: Please link to this page or entry, not the filename. Thanks. - MR ~~ File contents (c)2005, blogACTIVE.com)

My audio problems are finally solved.....yeah, it's 4am...but I know you've been so supportive I could not go to sleep before getting up Senator Koering telling the press how messages (three after an initial contact) went unanswered. What a lost opportunity for LCR. And there are plenty of more Paul Koerings out there.

LOG CABIN STAFF: Some basics you may have missed at orientation:
1. When a closeted legislator calls you, clear all the cocktail parties over the next few days. He or she is ready to talk to someone and you need to be there for them a lot more than you need to be there drinking with people who either agree with you gay rights or only disagree with you on gay rights because it will motivate their base.
2. When a closeted legislator calls you, don't push him/her off to a political director who has never held an elected office. Instead, if a closeted Republican state senator calls your office, move heaven and earth to make sure that someone else (hmmmm, who could that be?) who has been and similar position reaches out to the official.
3. HEADLINE LAST WEEK:
Closeted Gay Republican State Senator Comes Out
and Supports blogACTIVE.com's Work Exposing Hypocrisy of Closeted Gay Legislators
'Tried to call back several time' to Log Cabins

Get out of the cabin, come into the 21st century! And remember, if a leftist, progressive like me is connecting with people like Senator Paul Koering and you are not, Log Cabin, perhaps it's time to start returning my phone calls...Right Patrick? Right Chris? The cost of Log Cabin Republicans being more concerned with cocktails and tax cuts is that people like Paul Koering fall through the cracks. (Monday update: Even a simple call the Log Cabin for a list of board members becomes an evasive cat and mouse game with these people. - Note to LCR: you need to provide that information by law.)

LCR People...if there's one thing EVERY GAY AND LESBIAN PERSON IN AMERICA NEEDS FROM THE LOG CABIN REPUBLICANS IS THAT YOU STOP DROPPING THE BALL ON THIS. REMEMBER, GUYS, IT'S YOUR PARTY THAT IS MAKING GAY AND LESBIAN PEOPLE INTO VILLAINS. COME ON, WAKE UP! I mean talk about a bunch of people who are just unclear of the concept.

Audio issues

Damn, computer audio stuff is a little more complicated than I thought... I've spent the afternoon with my buddy Seth, a computer genius (and his absolutely fabulous sister). Anyway...the weather in DC is absolutely incredible...but we're inside going through the MP3 files... I just know* that something will be going up tonght. (* provided the puter cooperates)

Hey everyone...let's go to Washington.

I just signed up for a wonderful lobbying opportunity. I hope a few others in the DC area with join me. Anyone Game? Like me, you can get into the action on the Hill by signing up to go with me to the Family Research Council's lobby day.

CONCERNED WOMEN FOR AMERICA and FAMILY RESEARCH COUNCIL
SPONSOR A LOBBY DAY....LET'S GO TO WASHINGTON!

I'm going to carry a poster thanking event speaker Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) for her support of lifting the ban.....Maybe I can meet her at the Family Research Council's Lobby Day....and let her know how I feel about a woman's right to choose, versus the FRC's right to tell women what to do with their bodies.

If you are SERIOUS about joining me to lobby Congressmembers, please drop a note with your DC contact info by sending it to TeamBinDC@blogactive.com.

Lear more here or register here.

Hope to see you there....this is gonna be Fun!

ATTENTION: Family Research Council...

....Hey assholes. When will you learn that it's not a choice? Do we need to send closet case Lee LaHaye, son of Benverly and Tim AND the Chief Financial Officer of the Concerned Women for America, to spell it out for you?

If Lee doesn't work...How about Phyllis Schlafley's son....Not only does he work for her hate filled organization, but he's a leather queen with a penchant for sadomasochsim leather scenes. Nothing wrong with that, of course...unless you happen to work for your mommy as the lawyer for the Eagle Forum, right, John.

Johnny...youre a baaad boy....what is daddy going to do to you next time you're all dolled up in leather?

And as for you, FRC, Leave kids like the one in this ad alone. Stop abusing children in your advertisements!!! Isn't having the Boy Scouts of America program department run by a person who collects child pornography enough!

Coming soon: My letter of application to the FRC.

In His Own Words....Senator Paul Koering...

After a small bump in the road (imagine that!), the first audio files of State Senator Paul Koering's (R-MN) are ready to be released. It's 2:36 in the morning...I'm putting up the first tape now, because I got a ton of notes and support and many of you told me you'd be up with me!

Click here or on the blogACTIVE radio above to listen to Senator Koering talk about his life as a Minnesota dairy farmer, his work with the American Farm Bureau, his interest in politics, and his three runs for elected office in Minnesota.

In the morning....after a final meeting downtown at 10am, I'll be posting more audio files.

If you have not read Senator's Koering's story, check out the latest developments at the fastest growing lesbian and gay news site in America, RAWSTORYQ.

blogACTIVE.com is only possible with your support...please read the next post and support this important work.

URGENT ITEM

AMERICAN HERO
PROFILE IN COURAGE
MINNESOTA SENATOR PAUL KOERING.

AMERICA, THIS MAN IS THE TRUE DEFINITION OF COURAGE

AND NOW, AN URGENT MESSAGE FROM blogACTIVE.com

For reasons I cannot and may never be able to discuss publicly (we will see how the people who claim to be my friends react in the next few days) I feel completely violated today. The extraordinary story of AMERICAN HERO AND PROFILE IN COURAGE SENATOR PAUL KOERING IS MY WORK.

In addition to the story being stolen from me 6 hours prior to the expected time, I once again find myself in the same position.

I am making a difference in America. I am having a more positive affect on closeted gay Republicans than Patrick Gurriero and the entire staff of the Log Cabin Republicans. (If I was on the board of LCR and I heard the audio press conference of Senator Koering that I am releasing to the world tomorrow in audio format I WOULD ASK FOR DEMAND GURRIERO'S IMMEDIATE AND UNCONDITIONAL RESIGNATION.)

Friends, I am broke. I have back bills to pay. My rent needs to be paid. And, as the writing of this post I don't even have the $500 it will take me to convert the files I want to share with you for the web.

This is not the time to point fingers about how this happened. This is the time for you to read the story on Raw Story and to please click here to continue this work.

I need your help.

THIS IS THE ENEMY ...WHO WILL STOP HER???

Mel Martinez and his dirty tricks history

My oh my - I watched this whole Terri Schiavo memo business from a distance and suspected it came from someone like Senator Mel Martinez (R-FL). After John Byrne at RAWSTORY ran an article detailing the evidence, I had to laugh to myself. Would a US Senator who simultaneously employed an out gay man while also running one of the nation's most homophobic campaigns stoop to hiring staffers like Brian Darling in their Senate offices? Absolutely. If there is one thing these bunch of fools running the show have proven it is that they are so damned predictable.

In a time where the citizens are actually supposed to believe that Tom Delay is among the best and brightest our political system has to offer, is it any shock that Mel Martinez is calling the political shots so quickly in the Senate? Folks, this is the same guy who had a major newspaper withdraw it’s endorsement over homophobia and gay bashing!

And let’s not forget, that Mel Martinez, while employing a gay man as Finance Director of his campaign also equated living in a country with gay and lesbian marriage equality as living under Fidel Castro’s rule in Cuba.

All of this reminds me of a letter I wrote last year to Mel's then-campaign finance director, Kirk Fordham. Kirk is an out gay man who, for one reason or another, decided to cast his political fortunes with some of the nation's most well known homophobes. His resume reads like a Who's Who in American Hate with such entries as Senator James Inhofe (R-OK) and Martinez. Before the right wing extremists took control of their party, men like Representative Mark Foley (R-FL) and Kirk Fordham claimed they were working from within the system to improve it. Of course, we know those days are over. One need not look any further than Foley’s recent vote to strip gay and lesbian job protections enacted by localities to realize just how kept in his place he is. My cat Abby has more balls than Mark Foley, see:

Some of the very same people who supported Mel Martinez's run for the Senate were filled with glee when Mark Foley's run for the same seat was derailed. In the backrooms (hmmmm) of the GOP there was no way it would be tolerated to let a gay man represent Florida in the US Senate. (There must be two Floridas: Jeb Bush's version and then the state that is home to Key West, South Beach and the biggest cast closet of queens on the planet, Walt Disney World.

So, what we have is a right wing Congress out of control with inexperienced freshmen like Mel Martinez whipping his house servants like Mark Foley into submission on a regular basis all courtesy of political scum like Brian Darling and gay men like Kirk Fordham who would sell their partners down the river for personal gain. As Linda Ellerbee used to say at the end of her groundbreaking overnight newscasts, “And so it goes…”
