Blah, Blah, Blah....

So the Log Cabin club is meeting in Washington, DC this weekend.

The next time someone tells you that it's just the southern religious nutjobs who are anti-gay in the Republican party, tell them to read this story.

One year ago, with my help (and despite some major screwups and lies by the Victory Fund), Senator Paul Koering of Minnesota came out as a gay man. Following his coming out, Senator Koering demonstrated his courage by being the only member of his party to vote against moving a Minnesota marriage amendment forward.

Sure, Paul Koering and I don't agree on every issue. Isn't that what politics are SUPPOSED to be about? Good people debating issues and finding common ground.

Paul Koering has been a great State Senator in Minnesota. Just the kind of State Senator a party committee would endorse for reelection automatically. There is one difference with Sen. Koering, he's gay. That simple little fact threw the GOP in his party in his district into turmoil. And even though Sen. Koering received 60% of the endorsement vote, his challenger now threatens a primary race in September.

Perhaps the Log Cabin club can use this weekend to think about Paul Koering. What exactly have they done for Paul Koering? Well, they listed him on their Recognizing Republican Heroes page. There's just one problem... When I told Senator Koering about his placement on their site, I learned that they had not even bothered to tell him about it! Apparently the "Recognizing" part is not that important.

And, oh, get this.... Despite his never being told by Log Cabins (remember, Log Cabin executive director Patrick Guerriero has STILL not called the Senator), Paul Koering appears to be the ONLY gay legislator on the list!

Show Sen. Koering some love and support his reelection race.
