Mister Senator...

This post will be read by thousands and thousands of people... It's directed at ONE person.
Mr. Senator:

Tomorrow you will be faced with a vote that may have the longest aftereffects of any other you have cast in your Senate career.

Tomorrow you will decide if your political position is worth more than doing what is right for others like you. For others like you, Mr. Senator, who engage in oral sex with other men. (Although, Mr. Senator, most of us don't do in the bathrooms of Union Station!) Your fake marriage, by the way, will NOT protect you from the truth being told on this blog.

How does this blog decide who to report on? It's simple. We report on hypocrites. In this case, hypocrites who vote against the gay and lesbian community while engaging in gay sex themselves*.

When you cast that vote, Mr. Senator, represent your own...it's the least you could do.

Michael Rogers
blogACTIVE.com

*While votes on many matters are considered, votes "FOR" either the Alito nomination and the Federal Marriage Amendment are enough to qualify legislators for reporting on this site.
Ladies and Gentlemen.... if they want a cultural war, I'll give them a fucking cultural war. Fasten your seatbelts, it's gonna be a bumpy 2006."

UPDATE: Some of you have asked if he will be outed tomorrow. No. The blog will report on this closeted Republican Senator between tomorrow and a time when it may most impact the reelection effort of the Senator. Just because the Democratic establishment has given up the fight for our Nation, doesn't mean this site will...

Language evolves...

When I started this blog, I made sure the language was appropriate for my nieces and nephews. Fuck that. The war is getting harder...the insurgency must stand united -- and the Democrats who cave on the Alito filibuster prove to me that this was never really about anything more than a sweet paycheck and a lot of very nice perks.

This post from DailyKos sums it up best:

What I want is a complete list of every scumsucking fuckstick Democratic asshole Senator who voted for Cloture. That's what I want.

I don't know what to DO with that list, not yet -- but I know for GODDAMNED sure I won't be VOTING for any of them, lt alone sending them any goddamned MONEY.

I'm not saying he's gay....

...but he's the reason I've deleted Wonkette from my RSS feed.

Here's some info about the newest blogger at Wonkette, according to the New York Times:

...and repeatedly castigated the school's Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual Student Association.

In one column, entitled "Those 'Happy Homos'" he wrote: "National Coming Out Day is just another event in the recent rash of identity-based pride rallies. These alleged celebrations of diversity have devolved into mutual masturbation festivals. They reassure people who are still deeply troubled by their lifestyle choices and are desperately seeking a stamp of approval. We have a duty to deny them this approval."

Oh,. In his picture he looks as much a queen as Elizabeth II (he's the one on the left):

Senator Mikulski has no comment at this time...

Sen Barbara Mikulski (D-Maryland) was "outed" by New York City activists who were part of Queer Nation in the early 1990s. The Senator was promoting her book at the Barnes and Noble on 6th Avenue (or what tourists call Avenue of the Americas) and Queer Nation was out in full force.

Now, over a decade later, a Maryland court ruled that gays and lesbians are entitled to the same rights of marriage as straight people. The reaction of the Democrats in Maryland? To introduce a bill that would put off equality until after the November election.

You would think a lesbian US Senator would take the opportunity to be honest about this. The problem is that politicians are too busy worrying about being reelected than to worry about leading.

I was told by Senator Mikulski's office that there was little chance the Senator would comment since she "usually does not comment on state matters." "Does not comment on state matters?" Is that some kind of fucking joke? Despite her reply, I asked the press spokesperson to ask the Senator -- after all, if there was an "unusual" time this is it.

Here's what the lesbian US Senator's press secretary said the Senator has to say to a nation attacking lesbian and gay rights:

Thanks. Thanks for nothing.

Refreshing

Bob Fertik, a Democrat who wants to fight and wint...instead of a wimp who hides behind his computer terminal and the sketchy operations of BlogPac.

Can you tell that I'm itching for some rough and tumble politics?

When warmongers say filibuster...

...what more do you need to hear?
By: Michael Rogers | permanent link

The filibuster...

Thank you to SUBURBAN GUERRILLA for finding this gem over at Orcinus:

I broke my longstanding policy of not donating money to political parties last fall when the folks from the DNC called and asked for money to help gird them for the upcoming fights over judicial seats. I was assured that indeed they would fight to keep right-wing extremists off the Supreme Court.

And now, faced with a clear-cut extremist (and dissembler) who is about to not only overturn the right to obtain an abortion, but also to pave the path for an imperial executive branch with limitless powers ... nothing.

I'm not terribly inclined, as my readers know, to use profanity in my posts. But if the Democratic Party wants any more of my money, they can just go fuck themselves.
I've got plenty to say about the complete lack of competence of the Democrats if they fail to filibuster Alito. I mean, come on... The president's ratings are in the toilet, their is a growingly unpopular war in Iraq, and the scandals in the House and Senate GOP are worse than any daytime soap opera.

If they can't get their crap together to filibuster now... you really have to wonder what the hell we're even going to the polls for.

Getting it right

A reaction to the Procced at Your Own Risk post is here... The last paraph is, well, brilliant:
The moment you forget that the Nazis and the German people of that time were human beings just like us; and that all human beings are capable of terrible, terrible things, you doom us to a dark future.

The connection of people

I wish I could say, 'I don't understand gay Republicans.' Unfortunately, I do... all too well... So does Richard... He hits the nail on the head.

Within that context, I can only equate Gay Republicans with Kapos. And I would suggest that the old argument of "working from within to change the system" is as valid today as it was under Fascism and Communism.

The View from Panorama

Remember that little article they ran on blogACTIVE in the Italian magazine, Panorama?

Seems that closeted gays in the government wasn't the only US political game they got involved in.

From Raw Story by Larisa Alexandrovna
Michael Ledeen, A controversial neoconservative who occasionally consulted for the Bush Defense Department has confirmed that he was a contributor to the Italian magazine Panorama, whose reporter first came across forged documents which purported that Iraq was seeking to obtain uranium from Niger. (red emphasis added)
Oh, how I hate the combination of closet cases and yellowcake uranium in the morning.

Computer meltdown...upcoming Majority Leader election

YAY FOR GREAT NEWS! The computer crisis is over.
Reason #5342 to get a Mac:
Cost for two hours at the "Genius Bar" with three computer experts working on my machine to completely restore it in "like new" condition: $0.00
Value to me: priceless!
I know I had hoped to be back on line. The other day, a circuit overloaded and appears to have done some serious damage to my Mac. This is not good news...I'm bringing it to the Apple Store Genius Bar on Wednesday. The news is not good. (If you know anyone in an incredibly generous mood who wants to purchase the site a new computer have them check out the blog's Amazon.com wishlist. Warning: top of the line Macs are not cheap -- but hey, a guy can wish, right?)

As soon as I am back on line look for some interesting new stuff... I am watching the race for Majority Leader... there are some interesting gay men assisting candidates in that race... more when it becomes available.

Baptists and Preaching and Prostitutes, Oh, MY!

What more can you say?
Baptist leader accused of soliciting male prostitute

OKLAHOMA CITY A leader of the Southern Baptist Convention has been arrested in Oklahoma City on a lewdness complaint for allegedly propositioning a plainclothes policeman.

Police say the Reverend Lonnie Latham was arrested Tuesday night in a motel parking lot after soliciting an officer who was posing as a male prostitute.Latham is pastor of South Tulsa Baptist Church and is on the executive committee of the Southern Baptist Convention. He has spoken out in the past against homosexuality and same-sex marriage. After posting bond, Latham told K-F-O-R T-V in Oklahoma City that he was set up, and was in the area ministering to people.
And he's not the only one in Oklahoma who is anti-gay and sleeps with men... more on that soon...

Technical update... Must see TV

There's a slight delay in getting the project started... We've begun to divide up the country's 435 Congressional districts and blogACTIVE will need to recruit about 25 volunteers for a time limited project...more on that in a few days when the mailing list survey portion is ready to roll.
* * *
Regular wanderers through the gay blogosphere know that The Malcontent is not exactly a supporter of blogACTIVE's important work. That aside, there is one thing he and I agree on this week: In The Life, a national gay and lesbian news program, has a fantastic program on Good As You's Jeremy Hooper. (I've talked about Jeremy's work here before...his cutting humor of our enemies is worth a check every day.)

Take a moment to hop over to The Malcontent for the video of Jeremy on In The Life TV. You will learn about his blog work, which takes the web to a new level of humor and activism, and you'll also see Jeremy's personal side, including the struggles he faces as a gay man.

(And, oh, as The Malcontent correctly acknowledges, "He's young and cute," and, alas, very happily attached...)

Thank to The Malcontent for hosting this ...let's go to the videotape...

Like the cup of life...

First off...Happy New Year.
Now that the proof that this campaign does have an effect has been printed in the Washington Blade, it's time to assess where blogACTIVE is headed in the next year. Earlier today, I chatted with a friend. We both share an interest in politics.

In the next day or two there will be an opportunity for readers to volunteer for a special project. Now that the stakes are higher, blogACTIVE is collecting information to not only report on hypocrites, but also to make sure that the information here is as effectively communicated as it has to be. Without the support of traditional media outlets, it will be up to us to help continue to spread the message.

Let's drink from the cup of life...
