Blah, Blah, Blah....

So the Log Cabin club is meeting in Washington, DC this weekend.

The next time someone tells you that it's just the southern religious nutjobs who are anti-gay in the Republican party, tell them to read this story.

One year ago, with my help (and despite some major screwups and lies by the Victory Fund), Senator Paul Koering of Minnesota came out as a gay man. Following his coming out, Senator Koering demonstrated his courage by being the only member of his party to vote against moving a Minnesota marriage amendment forward.

Sure, Paul Koering and I don't agree on every issue. Isn't that what politics are SUPPOSED to be about? Good people debating issues and finding common ground.

Paul Koering has been a great State Senator in Minnesota. Just the kind of State Senator a party committee would endorse for reelection automatically. There is one difference with Sen. Koering, he's gay. That simple little fact threw the GOP in his party in his district into turmoil. And even though Sen. Koering received 60% of the endorsement vote, his challenger now threatens a primary race in September.

Perhaps the Log Cabin club can use this weekend to think about Paul Koering. What exactly have they done for Paul Koering? Well, they listed him on their Recognizing Republican Heroes page. There's just one problem... When I told Senator Koering about his placement on their site, I learned that they had not even bothered to tell him about it! Apparently the "Recognizing" part is not that important.

And, oh, get this.... Despite his never being told by Log Cabins (remember, Log Cabin executive director Patrick Guerriero has STILL not called the Senator), Paul Koering appears to be the ONLY gay legislator on the list!

Show Sen. Koering some love and support his reelection race.

ROY COHN AWARD: Anti-Gay State Department Spokesman is Gay

It's the first Roy Cohn Award of the 2006 political season!

This is blogACTIVE's first internationally connected Roy Cohn Award. blogACTIVE has learned that John Bolton's spokesman at the United Nation's, Richard Grenell, is gay. Mr. Grenell confirmed this information directly to blogACTIVE and he explained that ambassador Bolton had welcomed him into his home with a male date.

This is the same John Bolton who made this happen:

For the complete story of how the US
sided with anti-gay regimes in denying
observer status to LGBT groups, click here.

While Mr. Bolton didn't have a problem standing with Sudan when it comes to gays, here's what the ambASSdor had to say the other day:
All just say I did introduce our resolution on sanctions on Sudan...
If it's not enough to be the spokesman for a homophobic administration's mission to the UN, the Village Voice reports that Grenell is a real piece of work:
But several sources in the UN press corps who spoke on condition of anonymity describe the [Grenell] as "rude," "arrogant," and a "bully," neither popular nor a particularly good source. "He's unbearable," says one journalist. "Very pushy and very demanding," says another. Grenell is said to complain incessantly, hectoring correspondents and their bosses and trying to "mold" wire stories to fit his message. He yells at anyone whose slant doesn't follow his, says one source. "He yells at people whenever he is uncomfortable, particularly foreigners," says another.
TAKE ACTION: EMAIL ROY COHN AWARD WINNER RICHARD GRENELL

TAKE ACTION:
EMAIL ROY COHN AWARD WINNER RICHARD GRENELL. Let him what you think of a gay man representing a homophobic administration. Let him know what you think of his defending the US vote with Iran and Sudan on gay rights. Your email will be sent to Grenell and the press offices of UN Security Council member states... I've also added in emails of Sudan's and Iran's missions to the United Nations.

Finally, the Democrats are getting it....

It's nice to see that the folks at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee have taken their slap in the face and gotten their act together in a couple of days to correct the fact that their non-discrimination policy lacked 'sexual orientation.'

The original:

Corrected:

See, even political hacks can be smacked around, put in their place, and made to do the right thing.

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee was less cooperative in response to my inquiries. So, I figured after their spokesman, Karl Frisch, didn't respond as promised -- after FOUR days -- I would assume that there was no policy so I wrote a note, and in true blogACTIVE fashion, explained what the next step would be:

Imagine that! Tell four political hacks at a minimally effective organization that you're going to publish their emails on the web and all of a sudden they respond...and quickly too. First I got an email with the non-discrimination policy. After a couple of follow-up emails, I'm glad to report that the DSCC has their policy up and on-line:

And just so we don't forget....

There are a couple of more groups that I hope add their policy...I'll get back to you.

And now...

....And now, back to our regularly scheduled program.

I never promised that this blog would only be about reporting hypocrisy. Once the Washington Post puts up the Election Guide you know it's time to focus like a laser beam on the main reason the blog was started. So, it's time to start up again... Calling out those who harm our community.

Check in Monday, that's when I'll be posting about a US State Department Official and how he helps oppressive regimes murder gay people.

Over at the Executive Mansion....

Over on PageOneQ, I wrote an exclusive about the Dope-In-Chief and how the White House changed the Easter Egg Roll ticketing Process. The White House decided that families who waited in line all night long, including LGBT families, would not be among the event's first attendees.

Here are the some concerns over at the White House about queers at the event:

1. Dykes on Bikes tearing up the south lawn.

2. Harriet Miers could be grabbed, held down, and have her hair redone.

3. White House Director of Office of Science and Technology concerned some would steal Easter eggs to make test tube babies.

4. Laura Bush, Out... RuPaul, In.

TAKE ACTION: Finally...They are coming out of the closet.

The right wing crazies got a short shot of glee before the courts tell them that they have to actually follow federal law, by convincing a NC school board to deny approval for a Gay Straight Alliance. The students are fighting back against cultists who seek to take over the public schools.

Kudos to Operation Save America forunders for undertstanding the power of coming out. in their press release. It's the same press release that has its Director, Rev. Flip Benham's, phone number, 980-722-4920:
Christians are not standing idly by while God’s Word is being trashed in the streets. They are coming ut of the closet!
Here are some other tidbits from Benham:
"The Church of Jesus Christ has come out of the closet and, and because it has, the homosexual community is steadily moving back into it."

"
South Rowan High School is free from the bane of a homosexual club today. The City of Charlotte is free today from the public display of obscene homosexual acts in a public park"
TAKE ACTION: Call Reverend Flip at 980-722-4920 and let him know what you think of his group's work.

Update: I spoke to Flip... He cites some case heard before Lawrence v. Texas as the basis of why he thinks the Federal Courts will uphold the school board's decision. Be sure to ask Flip for RECENT case law supporting his argument.

Those Pentagon Dopes...

Wrote an interesting item at PageOneQ today on those idiots that run the Military. It was picked up by Huffington Post and Wonkette, among others.

Remember what I said about Wonkette in the past? A colleague tells me it's time to rethink:

Thank goodness the public doesn't know the email address I use to send Wonkette tips.

Oh...poor naive Bruce...

Recently there was a group email sent to a number of gay bloggers about the immigration bill being negotiated in Congress. A blogger was asking other bloggers to post about the issue. It was a simple request; bloggers write to each other all the time on stories. What made this one different was the reply Gay Patriot sent to the entire list:
And any "coalition" with BlogActive is not one I will can be a part of. My lawyer would nix it.'
Um, his lawyer? What bullshit. His "lawyer" wrote me a letter once demanding a meeting regarding Bruce's "claims" against me. The same lawyer didn't even bother to return a phone call. Yaaaaawn. What a joke.

But here's the real joke. Bruce writes an email:
