Rogers was Development Coordinator at New York's Hetrick-Martin Institute and Harvey Milk School, managed the development and donor programs at the Funding Exchange, was the Director of Development at the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force and Major Gifts Manager at Greenpeace.
Rogers has been an activist since the mid-1980's when he was involved in campaigns against Apartheid and for student voting rights. Rogers activism includes work with ACT-UP and the launching of a successful campaign against McDonald's when the multinational tried to displace workers in his Washington, DC neighborhood. Rogers has also been a neighborhood activist and tenant organizer.
Rogers has appeared on CNN, The O'Reilly Factor, National Public Radio, and numerous other television and radio programs. His work has been reported on in The New York Times, The Washington Post, and Chicago Tribune; he was profiled by Jake Tapper in GQ Magazine and named one of Genre Magazine's 'Men We Love.'
