Name that book

There are some really funny title suggestions coming in for Larry's forthcoming book. Today, on The Ed Schultz Show I'll be chatting with Ed about the book and some of my own suggestions. I'll also share some fun ones from the comments (so hurry up) and from Michelangelo Signorile's blog. I'll be on at 1:30 ET .

McClellan book renews Gannon questions

Howie Klein at Down With Tyranny:
Yesterday we wondered why none of the Regimebots had been calling Scotty a homo. Well, today the first shot in that direction from the Bush Regime's in-house male prostitute, Gannon/Guckert: "What I hear about the book does not sound like the Scott McClellan I knew for two years. I can say without fear of contradiction, that I knew Scott better than any other White House correspondent or Washington reporter." Oh dear. Why are they so upset?

Amazon to sell lurid pornography

Former members of Congress have to take a bit of time before becoming high priced lobbyists. Larry has a plan. He's going to write about his career in politics. The funny thing is that without his closeted sex with men is that it will make him a ton of cash, perhaps giving credence to the right wing's claim that we're all rich.

Larry Craig to tap memory for autobiography

Sen. Larry Craig, R-Idaho, is writing a book that will reflect on the turmoil after his arrest last year in an airport sex sting.

Craig, 62, is retiring from Congress in January after 18 years in the Senate and a decade in the House.

He told KTVB-TV in Boise, Idaho, the book will focus on "the state of politics" in Washington, but also will review his career, including his arrest by an undercover officer in a men's room at the Minneapolis airport.

"There will be a bit of what's happened in the last year and the way it evolved," Craig said. "I think that's important for Idaho and those outside Idaho who are interested to know."

Vice President Crist?

Hey, girlfriend!

The chances of Charlie Crist being nominated for VP by the GOP are about as good as the chances that the sun will set in the east and that your local PBS station will announce they are flush with cash.

Charlie Crist will not be Vice President of the United States. Any questions?

Everyone in politics in Florida knows Charlie Crist is gay. Everyone in politics in Washington knows Charlie Crist is gay. Floridians I talk to in DC laugh at the though of him being nominated.

This little scene is nothing more than getting the media to focus on Florida for McCain.

Oh, you can forget about Rick Perry and Condi Rice, too)

If it pleases the court...

There's just one more test to go and things here will be back on track. I'm back to planning a heavy travel schedule, researching cases.

It's been an interesting time. For the first time in four years another blogger bullshit me to the max. I don't take lightly to being lied to and having my work stolen. In the entire time I've written this blog, I've never had the need to hire a lawyer; after what this blogger did, I have no other option.

I can't disclose details yet, but if and when I can, I will.

A couple of tests and a Marriage thoughts coming around

I haven't commented much on the California marriage ruling, but I have talked to my friends about it and I'll be getting my thoughts together on it this week and sharing it with you. There is no doubt in my mind that progress should never be stopped in the name of politics. The people who want to now fret over the effect of this on the election are the same pundits and consultants who have moved these stories over and over and over. When Tony Perkins is brought on as a pundit to talk about the Iraq war and he makes it about gays in the military, is CNN doing it's best to provide objective news?

There are however real consequences to individuals in the victory... I'll write some more about it later in the week.

Recently, I've been busy traveling, working on more high level cases than ever before (Did I just send shivers down a few spines in DC?) and dealing with this pretty important test. You'd think radioactive dye and four hours of this and that would be conclusive. It's not. Today's adventure is a stress version of one of these.

Larry, poor poor larry

Now he's being, um -- honored? -- by a professional baseball team, The St. Paul Saints. 2,500 lucky fans will get their own one of these:

Saints promotion pays edgy tribute to Sen. Craig
You've heard of the bobblehead doll that baseball teams love to hand out to fans. So how about a bobblefoot?

The St. Paul Saints are putting their own twist on the popular promotion, in a nod to one of the most notorious Minnesota stories of last year.

At Sunday's game, they'll give 2,500 fans a miniature bathroom stall with a pair of lower legs and feet - one of which is springloaded so that it taps.

You'd think....

Instead of the DC Department of Motor Vehicles posting a sign that says "Use Of Profanity Will Result in Denial of Service" maybe, just maybe the people over there should ask "Hmm, why do so many people use profanity that we need to put up a fucking goddamned sign about it?"

Lost the wallet, fortunately not much in it and not many cards... That was just a thought I had while waiting.

Idaho, the gift that keeps on giving

Just as we've come to accept that Larry Craig is not running for reelection, the good folks in Idaho come up with more news. When Nick Langewis at PageOneQ wrote about a right winger in Idaho runing for office advocating separate bathrooms for gay teenagers.

State House candidate: Separate bathrooms for gay kids
A Republican seeking a state House seat in the land of Larry Craig advocates segregation based on sexual orientation.

Retired Idahoan Walt Bayes, 70, says in campaign literature that it is "absolutely wrong to force any student to share the same bathrooms and showers with homosexual teachers or students."

"I don't really have an answer for it," the Wilder resident told the Idaho Press-Tribune Saturday, "but we're going to have to do something if there's going to be a considerable number of our people who are going to [be gay]."

Putting their candidate in perspective...

What do you want to read?

I know it seems like I've been disappearing for a week here and there. Sometimes, I'm just so swamped that I get lost in deadline things and posting here becomes secondary. Let me give you some updates and tell you what's coming up.

The attention brought to the blogosphere by the Foley and Craig stories has meant more tips than ever before. I'm currently investigating four members of and two candidate for Congress. While I've been off traveling the stories about hypocrites in office continue to come out. The latest right wing hypocrite? Fosella. Will these guys ever stop?

Some of the places my latest work has taken me are interesting. It was educational visiting bars and strip clubs that were tips in one case. In another case, I am about to take another flight, my third, for research.

As regular readers know, when there is a need for support for the work I ask. In this case, my work is more time consuming than too expensive for me to cover...that and knowing a few friends have helped out along the way. Thanks for your patience on this work...I really do appreciate it.

There is simply not enough to write about when it comes to outing. It's not like I can report a new case out every day... Are you, readers, interested in reading posts on other issues in the LGBT and progressive communities? In addition to this site, I run PageOneQ.com and do netroots organizing in most corners of the community with leaders, bloggers, journalists and more, so there is plenty to write about.

I'm curious about what you think.

Spat over, hello war

Why write something when someone you respect writes the same feelings in a far more eloquent way? Kevin Naff, editor of the Washington Blade, writes Hillary, the time has come:
As someone who endorsed Clinton early in the campaign (well before the mainstream media went ga-ga over Obama after his Iowa victory), I saw her as the party’s best chance to beat the GOP nominee and the candidate with the most relevant international experience to tackle the myriad crises inflicted on us by George Bush.

Unfortunately, all the talk of experience and competence was belied by a campaign rife with incompetence. From Bill Clinton’s ruinous (and arguably racist) campaign swing through South Carolina, to an obvious failure to craft a strategy past Super Tuesday, her campaign staff made so many miscalculations that Hillary went from a coronation to a shocking defeat.

* * * *
But she didn't emerge victorious and the time has come for her supporters, gay and straight, to embrace Obama’s campaign for the White House. The stakes are too high to allow primary race disappointments to demoralize Democratic voters. And the stakes for gay voters are higher.

Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton’s gay supporters should take a day to mourn her defeat and then join Obama’s cause. She’s resilient and will bounce back, probably as Senate majority leader, a job much more in line with her skills than that of president.
Like Kevin, I was -- after a major flip about a year ago -- a supporter of the Clinton campaign. I helped raise some money, got to go to a few really cool events and was excited to see someone care about the issues I cared about. Folks I've trusted for over 10 years supported her and had unprecedented levels of access, which is where a lot of change comes from.

It didn't happen. Oh, well. We could have done worse. I don't think my Obama supporting friends are evil (well some maybe, but not over this) and the Hillary fans who would just die if she didn't win...well, they are all alive, eh? We could have had this guy, this guy, this guy, or this guy. We did a LOT better. We did great. It's democracy. This spat is over. Let's get on with the war.

Alone, Kevin's words above are important. From Naff's pen they have the gravitas to motivate legions of gays and lesbians to make sure we do not lose this election. I know his piece give me comfort as I say to my friends still supporting Hillary, "Hey, it's time."

There is much more to Kevin's post. The full text is here.

CONGRATULATIONS PAT!

If 70% of the counties voting is reflective of the final tally, Patrick McHenry will be the GOP nominee for the US House seat he currently holds. Despite being challenged from within his own party by a right wing wacko, it appears he will -- um -- come out on top.

I hear the story about Pat committing perjury when he voted in NC and had a primary residence in DC must not have gotten legs in the district...Yet.

Poor Pat.....

Poor Pat McHenry. Just when the NC conservative congressman knew he'd squeak through primary day, up bubbles this. It seems as though Pat has a past that ain't gonna sit well with the 10th District conservatives who would rather not see their congressman hanging out like it was Camp Gaston. And I mean CAMP.

Here's a little interesting photo grab. Jackie Sullens, a conservative activist in McHenry's home county of Gaston, NC, stands with Sen. Liddy Dole (R-NC) at a GOP event in North Carolina.

Jackie is involved in the Gaston County Republican Women's organization, where she serves as editor of the group's newsletter. How nice, pushing the messaging of one of the most homophobic state GOP parties in the country.

So, what do hard right wing congressmen do when they are hanging out with right wing conservative friends like Jackie and the woman she lives with? In photographs obtained by BlogActive, Pat McHenry is not acting very conservative. Oh wait, based on the past few years... he IS acting like a conservative! Here ya go...

What does your gaydar reading say?

Off to camp...

As Page One Q reported in September, the two-term Congressman owned a home with another man (and took the DC homestead exemption for the place while maintaining North Carolina residency). Co-owning a home with a member of the same sex can bring on a Don't Ask Don't Tell investigation and taking the Homestead deduction on what is not your primary home is a crime.

Rumors have circulated in the district since before his election that McHenry was gay, partied with younger men and that his campaign provided beer for underage teenagers at the 2004 Catawba County straw poll.

Oh, did I mention that he had a slew of young men living in his house? Well, that's what the voting rolls show.

The photos are being circulated all over the 10th District this weekend. Ya saw them here first.

THANKS TO SCRUTINY HOOLIGANS FOR THEIR POST AND INFO.

Where ya been? Away again?

When lawyers say "shut up" you do it --- even when you are me. I had to hold off on a few things, sorry for the delay. I'm back and let me be clear, none of this will stop this site from moving forward.

In fact, to shake things up a bit, I'm going to post some pictures tomorrow -- or maybe later today -- that will DEFINITELY cause a stir in the area where the candidate is. They don't prove anything about him, well....except the company he keeps. I'll leave it to readers to decide if their gaydar goes off.
