A political dilemma

When I reported on SC Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer (picture, right) and how he lives in the closet while sleeping with the religious right, I had a feeling it may have an impact on politics there.

The Palmetto State is now in a predicament. Do they keep the current governor, Mark Sanford (picture, below), who is corrupt, or do they turn the state over the a closeted gay guy? -- Something they just hate down there in such a conservative place.

Sanford, for those of you who may not recall, took it upon himself to take a ride in the state airplane to fly to South America so he could visit the woman he described as his "soul mate." (Incidentally, that didn't sit too well with Sanford's wife, Jenny.)

It's looking more and more like the gay guy might win.

CNN: Sanford impeachment resolution likely next week:
A resolution of impeachment against Gov. Mark Sanford is likely to be introduced next week during a special session of the South Carolina legislature, but lawmakers said the governor's job is safe for the time being.

Republican state Rep. Greg Delleney told CNN his resolution lists three charges against Sanford: dereliction of duty for leaving the state to visit his mistress in Argentina in June; attempting to cover-up the scandal; and bringing 'disgrace and shame and ridicule' on the state.

'If that is not serious misconduct in office, I don't know what is,' Delleney said of Sanford's actions."
